HAITI COULEURS TOPS LIST OF 50 ENTRIES FOR CORAL WELSH GRAND NATIONAL

Tuesday 26th November 2025 – A total of 50 entries have been received for this year’s Coral Welsh Grand National including Cheltenham Festival winner and Irish Grand National hero Haiti Couleurs.

The 8-year-old’s trainer Rebecca Curtis is yet to land her country’s biggest race, but could have a huge chance with her stable star who was pulled-up in last Saturday’s Betfair Chase. He had looked highly progressive prior to that and would be highly respected if declared back in handicap company.

Last year’s 1-2 Val Dancer and Jubilee Express could be set to return to Chepstow once again. There hasn’t been a back-to-back winner of the Coral Welsh Grand National since Bonanza Boy in 1989. Mountainous was the last dual winner of the race in 2015.

Fellow previous winner Nassalam has been entered again by Gary and Josh Moore. He was one of the most comprehensive winners in Welsh Grand National history when he romped to a 34-length success in 2023.

It has been eight years since this prize was last taken back across the Irish Sea when Gavin Cromwell’s Raz De Maree landed the spoils for his connections in 2017. This year there are seven entries from Ireland including former Irish Grand National winner Intense Raffles, and Gigginstown House Stud’s Stellar Story.

The highly progressive Mr Vango could make his seasonal return in this contest. He is seeking a four-timer after securing top handicaps such as the Peter Marsh Chase and Midlands Grand National.

Nigel Twiston Davies has won this twice before courtesy of Earth Summit (1997) and Bindaree (2003) and his Top Of The Bill posted a career-best when winning unchallenged at Haydock Park on Saturday.

Luke Admans, General Manager at Chepstow, said: “We’re thrilled to see a real depth of strong entries for this year’s renewal of the Coral Welsh Grand National. Headlined by Irish Grand National winner Haiti Couleurs, winners from the past 2 years in Val Dancer and Nassalam, multiple Irish entries and some really highly rated domestic runners.

He added: “With 1 month to go on Thursday, we’re really looking forward to planning the final details of the day and can’t wait to welcome all of the runners and riders to what will be another thrilling Coral Welsh Grand National”

Every raceday ticket comes with a ‘Wet Weather Guarantee!’ if a drop of rain drops at any point from gates opening to the last horse crossing the finishing line, every ticket holder can claim a FREE Grandstand ticket to selected fixtures in 2026.
