The Abbey Hotel sits in a prime location on the side of the beautiful Wye Valley, overlooking the ruins of the famous Tintern Abbey, which was founded in 1131.

The earliest trade directory in which it was listed as an hotel was 1835, when it was known as the Beaufort Arms Hotel. The landlord at that time was for many years recorded as being the keyholder and official guide to the Abbey.
